Jerry Jakala/ Biography
Jerry’s music is a mix of influences, including, but not limited to, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Ray Charles, Bob Seger , Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Eagles, Luther Allison, Eric Clapton, The Doors, Albert King, Freddie King, Kenney Chesney, Albert Collins, David Gilmore, BB. King, Savoy Brown, The Beatles, & too many others to name.
Jerry plays Bass, Guitar & sings, as well as writes his own music.
Jerry currently is the emcee of the Just Plain Folks music showcase held the second Sunday of the month at the Whistle Stop Grill in Safety Harbor, Florida.
Depending on the number of performers, three to four songs are played by solo artists, duos, and trios.
Jerry has two- dozen songs that need to be recorded for his second cd, Eclectic Avenue.
Eclectic Avenue will include songs from the Blues, Country, Southern Rock, and Folk arenas of music.
Songs have a way of growing from their birth to the final version of the song.
Songs evolve much the same as we do.
The idea, music or lyrics, putting them together and re-writing/polishing as much as necessary to get a quality song/product.
Jerry is also a member of the Horse Feather’s band, the official Tampa Bay Chapter Of Just Plain Folks band that backs songwriter’s with their original material. Depending on what is needed Jerry is capable of playing bass or guitar in the Horse Feather’s band. The other core members are Andy Karpinski, Dan Copeland, and Alex Wolfe Parnes. We are all multi instrumentalists so Horse Feather’s is very capable of putting together what ever a songwriter needs for his song to be performed by a full band.
Jerry is also the Tampa Bay Chapter of Just Plain Folks Co-coordinator.
Just Plain Folks is a worldwide music organization made up of over 45,500 musicians’, songwriter’s, producers, lawyers’, & just about every other conceivable job that has a connection to music.
Just Plain Folks is a great networking organization.
I've met and played with some great musician's as well as have on going friendships.
